Gandhi Portrait - School Project - Finished by vawliet Gandhi Portrait - School Project - Finished by vawliet
"Be the change you wish to see in the world."

My finished art project. The assignment was to draw a portrait of someone who inspires us using the grid-transfer method. Our goal was to learn how to use a twelve-range value scale.

My art teacher has now assigned me (not the class) to do a self portrait of myself. I picked a picture from Naka-kon, seeing as that it would be different and distictive compared to most portraits.

However, our class as a whole is now moving on to our colour unit, in which we are to create graffiti. Graffiti itself is a distictive art form that originals in Brooklyn as a way of tagging for gangs, and has now transformed into an art form. Graffiti itself is the art of writing or scracting something in a surface such as rock or wood. The original graffiti, in the sense of the word, is the cave drawings that original millions of years ago.

Our assignment is to pick a word and pictures that correspond together and work together. The picture is to be the focal point of the picture, and word just a detail. Our pictures are to use at least two different colour schemes.

I will probably be posting pictures of my progress throughout my graffiti project as well.

The piece itself is made in a grid-transfer method on a 18"x24". The actually drawing is made using a 4B charcoal pencil.

I think this is exquisitely beautiful. It has every little highlight and detail in their perfect place. I would usually say do something with the background, but with this picture, the background isn't that important. Maybe you could continue a little and add detail to the clothes. Other than that I don't think I have anymore tips. You have an amazing skill for drawing realism, and I say you should pursue that. I love the texture and detail and eh warm feeling in his eyes. It is an astonishingly magnificent drawing. Keep doing what you are doing and make the world more creative.

I wasn't expecting that. Though I have a feeling you don't want to draw me an answer. XD
