"Be the change you wish to see in the world."
My finished art project. The assignment was to draw a portrait of someone who inspires us using the grid-transfer method. Our goal was to learn how to use a twelve-range value scale.
My art teacher has now assigned me (not the class) to do a self portrait of myself. I picked a picture from Naka-kon, seeing as that it would be different and distictive compared to most portraits.
However, our class as a whole is now moving on to our colour unit, in which we are to create graffiti. Graffiti itself is a distictive art form that originals in Brooklyn as a way of tagging for gangs, and has now transformed into an art form. Graffiti itself is the art of writing or scracting something in a surface such as rock or wood. The original graffiti, in the sense of the word, is the cave drawings that original millions of years ago.
Our assignment is to pick a word and pictures that correspond together and work together. The picture is to be the focal point of the picture, and word just a detail. Our pictures are to use at least two different colour schemes.
I will probably be posting pictures of my progress throughout my graffiti project as well.
The piece itself is made in a grid-transfer method on a 18"x24". The actually drawing is made using a 4B charcoal pencil.
